1) Lingual Braces
Believe me, these are the braces that are placed behind your teeth. It cannot be visible outside like traditional braces, but performs the same as traditional braces. The components used in lingual braces are also same as like as traditional braces. These braces have been a great option for adults who thinks braces give an odd look. These braces are expensive and hard to adjust initially, but they give clear and quicker results.
When you wear these braces your speech will be affected a little as your tongue touches the back of your teeth. They are not visible properly, hence they are also difficult to clean. Another type of braces also affects speech for some days, but lingual braces take a month or more.
2) Invisalign Braces
Invisalign are also called transparent braces made from a acrylic or clear plastic material. They will be tightly fitted over the teeth but can be take out while eating and brushing. A new aligner is given every few weeks to proceed moving your teeth to the desired position. They are recommended for people who need only minor adjustments in the teeth. An average of twelve to eighteen months is required for this treatment depending upon the correction required. A retainer may be required to wear every night after the treatment to avoid moving your teeth back to their previous position.
3) Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces are similar to traditional braces, but their appearances will be minimized as they use clear brackets. Patients can choose the color of the wire that is matching your teeth color. So the braces will be very less visible. They also work the same as traditional braces so you don’t have to worry about its performance. In this brace elastic bands are used, hence they can be stained easily if not cleaned properly. They are also more expensive than other types of braces because of the material used.
4) Self-ligating braces
These braces have a smooth sliding mechanism that allows archwires to slide to and fro motion easily. They are more comfortable than traditional braces as they reduce friction and tightness. The period required for fixing alignment or bite issues is reduced by wearing self-ligating braces because they are more efficient at moving teeth. You don’t need to go to the dentist often for adjustments. As there are no metal or elastic bands around your teeth, the plaques will collect only in fewer areas. This will be a great advantage as your teeth can be cleaned easily.
5) Traditional Braces
These braces are made up of high-quality stainless steel and also they are the most usual type of braces used for both children and adults. Tiny rubber bands or metal ties are used to safeguard the wire, by tightening the wire in different places your teeth will move to the desired position. You can choose the option of metallic, clear, or colored elastics that can be changed during every consultation. These braces are less costlier than other types of braces.
